For those active in school at the University or College level, NON-PAID Internships are available year round. Your entry into today's workforce generally requires that you either know somebody, or have work experience. SInce 1994, ISLE Computer Consulting has been that stepping stone in which students take their theoretical knowledge and apply that to practical use in the many projects that are available.

Tenure - Hawaii Pacific University students must reach 200 hours. University of Hawaii and other schools are required 150 hours for credit. Evaluations and Letters of Recommendation are provided at completion. At this time and only on successful finish, interns may use ISLE Computer Consulting as a work reference.

Normal Internship Hours - Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:00am - 5:00pm

Internship Training Plan Outlines - The following are guides on what to expect. Tasks are structured so that each skill is built as a foundation for the next. However, at times, and due to current work, changes may occur in the established order. Each intern is expected to anticipate this. In addition to the guidelines, there are other business duties that may not directly tie into the immediate position and may require cross-training. We believe this is good for the interns as it develope the individual as a well-rounded asset.

HTML/ASP Developer

Responsibilities:
The following position can be filled with more than one individual. Required are individuals that are responsible, have a positive attitude, perform well as a team player, and have some basic HTML knowledge.

The individual is responsible for HTML "hard coding", and will be instructed on how to apply dynamic web-page design techniques and integration with Microsoft SQL 2000/2008. We will also include working with Adobe CS Photoshop / Dreamweaver / Fireworks / Flash and basic graphic design. In addition, there are other technical needs that arise depending on the client provide work that we are given, such as authoring DVD’s, CD, video production including editing.

Projected Schedule of Tasks:
During the course of the internship, each individual will gain the following experiences:

Week 1
• General orientation to the company, policies, procedures, rules, and expectations.
• Online HTML Tutorial – Refresh basic HTML utilizing the WEBMONKEY AUTHORING website. The student must familiarize him/herself with an overview, and proceed through exercises provided.
• Animated graphics introduction to Macromedia Fireworks, which includes creating rollover buttons & disjointed targeted frames. Online tutorial provided, student works at his / her own speed.
• Animated graphics introduction to Macromedia Flash, includes working with key frames & motion tweening. Online tutorial provided, student works at his/her own speed.

Weeks 2 - 3
• Basic graphics manipulation utilizing Photoshop, to include working with layers, image selection, resizing, crop, layer properties, and use of pre-programmed “action” macro scripts.
• Learn the Web development process—The student will be directed on internal operations of production and live server activity, location of systems. Following this, procedural activity in developing a website includes planning, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Introduction to Macromedia Dreamweaver-Direction will be given to work with Graphical-User-Interface (GUI) HTML developing tools. The activity generated from the above listed applications will combine all previously covered efforts.

Weeks 4 - 6
• Repetition of skills covered above will be implemented into various projects to include;
• Website updates
• Miscellaneous graphic work
• Database Maintenance

Week 7
• Advanced students will be introduced to ASP (Active Server Pages). It would be helpful if the individual already possesses Visual Basic of Java Scripting knowledge. HTML/ASP will be generated to dynamically display information from a database. The programs written will include modules to add, modify, and display table information.
• Microsoft SQL 2000 will be used. Instruction on basic access and coding will be provided.

Weeks 8 – 12

• Repetition of skills covered above will be implemented into various projects to include;
• Website updates
• Miscellaneous graphic work
• Database Maintenance

The tasks will be performed according to a schedule that changes, yet will maintain structured. Programming modules will be implemented pending an ongoing website/project timeline.

ACCOUNTING

Responsibilities:
The following position can be filled with more than one individual. Required are individuals that are responsible, have a positive attitude, perform well as a team player, and have some basic use of a PC-platform computer including Microsoft Excel & Word.

The individual is responsible for classifying receipts, generating invoices, and preparing various reports. Quickbooks Pro & Microsoft Excel will be the most common programs that these individuals will use.

Projected Schedule of Tasks:
During the course of the internship, each individual will gain the following experiences:

Week 1-4
• Identify, sort, and classify receipts
• Prepare Cash Disbursement and Cash Receipts Journals

Week 5-6
• Balance Check Register
• Prepare Profit Loss Statement
• Generate Quarterly GETAX forms

Week 7-12
• Repetition of skills covered above will be implemented into various projects to include;
• Miscellaneous graphic work
• Event Promotion
